The Wikireason project project has gone into hibernation (see front page). You may be interested in CruxLux, Debate Mapper, Chains of Reason or the Debate-pedia.

Wikireason:Hibernation

From Wikireason

Several factors have convinced me that the Wikireason wiki should remain locked to all users except sysops for the near future. If I am convinced that the project can be productively revived, I will do so, but at the moment we do not have a community that is capable of maintaining the website, and I don't have the time to make things happen.

Progress on the project

I think that our biggest accomplishment has been the development of the logic tree format. I also like what's been done with our templates, especially the fallacy system, though this still needs more work.

Reasons for hibernation

Among our current problems are:

  • Degradation of content. We never managed to create a consistent format across the pages of the website, making it difficult to get new users to use the official format. On top of that, spammers and hit-and-run editors were constantly disrupting the organization of the content and even deleting significant chunks of content inappropriately. I was unable to keep up with these demands, so I locked the content to prevent further degradation of the content, and permit administrators to get things organized again.
  • The Wikimedia foundation has requested that Wikireason cease to use the Wikimedia color scheme in our logo. Discuss a new logo
  • I have had some trouble maintaining the software. This is a technical issue that I will manage to resolve when I have more time to dedicate.

Conditions for revival

We need a small community that understands the mission of Wikireason and agrees to work within the policies that have been decided upon.

In the meantime...

  • Keep abreast of announcements, or send a message to Adam letting me know that you want to be informed when Wikireason resumes.
  • Discuss the Wikireason project at the Meta website.
