Fossil Fuels
From Wikireason
Overview
Is the world addicted to fossil fuels? Crude oil prices have jumped up over $10 a barrel and gasoline in the US has more then double reaching over $3.00 a gallon. President Bush in his 2006 address said he wants to reduce oil dependence on the Middle East. Many have argued the Iraq war was primarily about securing oil reserves. China in 2005 for the first time exceeded their own production reserves and had to secure oil from other countries. China is growing five times faster than the US economy and every indication is that it will continue to do so over the next twenty years. There is also a lot of debate that the world is reaching its peak oil reverses.
The most economically sensible alternative to fossil fuels is nuclear energy. Unfortunately most people lump nuclear energy production with nuclear weapons construction.
